The honeyburst flat-top
This one has a black walnut body, which is a great wood in terms of basic tone, response, and beauty. Weight is typically on the high side, so chambering/lightening is usual – this one is lightened and the guitar weighs 7lbs exactly.
The top is American bookmatched hard flame maple which has some ‘character’ areas.
The finish is all nitro with no fillers or sealer, which is letting it sink gracefully and would take ageing very well now. Colours/tints are all custom-mixed.
The headstock has a streaky ebony overlay which looks black in low light, and shows it’s character in stronger light.
Pickups are a pair of P90 soapbars by Mojo Pickups. Braided wire is used with CTS and Switchcraft parts. This guitar has beautiful clarity to both the cleans and low/medium gain, and can drive amps and pedals hard too.
Bridge and tail are Gotoh and Faber.
